The ferries that cross to Tabarca from Alicante, started in his father's day by the present skipper, Salvador Diez, were known as Canaós. It was fortunate for those members who journey to that island last Thusday that the modern interpretation is not a canoe but a real big boat - fears of crossing in a canoe were expressed! Salvador was given a surprise. A
photograph of himself as a younger man Jean had found in a magazine article about Tabarca.
Tabarca, the only inhabited island off the Costa Blanca coast, is seeing quite a few changes as more and more restaurants and bars open up to the continual stream of tourists who go to enjoy the specially clear waters - for swimming, fishing, snorkelling and etc - and the casual charm of the tiny village. Our party, more than 50 strong, had a very happy day and a
specially good lunch at Rincon de Ramos.
