SUMMER LUNCH - JUNE 2008

After the General Meeting in June, the Calpe U3A held their annual summer lunch..... but with a difference! This year it was themed as a “Wedding Party” and guests were invited to arrive in their best bib and tuckers as if they were guests at a wedding. There was even a real life “Bride and Groom” who had only recently been married.

On arrival at the El Puerto Hotel, in Calpe the 106 guests who attended were invited to select where they wanted to sit before being offered Cava and Orange Juice on the terrace overlooking the port area, which was a nice opportunity to mingle and chat with friends.

The “guests” were then called into the dining room to stand and greet their “Bride and Groom” and their “parents” , before being seated for the meal.

The choir added a touch of romance by singing “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” and Linda Morrell-Vessey sang a solo number.

Once the meal was over, and in true wedding style, many guests were up and bopping away to the music! On this occasion we were glad there were no youngsters there to embarrass!! Why is it that we all think we can dance like John Travolta after a glass or two of grape juice??
