REPORT ON TRIP TO LLUXTENT.Sunday 17th October 2004
The other Sunday a full coach load visited the Ermita and Castle ruins of Lluxtent which is a small village inland from Gandia. It appears no one had heard about it before and they were justifiably delighted with the visit to the Ermita. No one had realised there was such a gem ready to be inspected. The remains of the Monastery were also investigated with the help of an excellent guide who discussed the possible uses to which it could be put. Then we went to Castillo de Rugat - another lovely drive along unknown roads, but then had to climb up the "Via Dolorosa" - an unexpectedly daunting experience.Reaching the top picnic tables were laid ready and many Spanish groups were already enjoying the fiesta before the u3a party arrived to add even more atmosphere. Happy Birthday was sung for one of our members both in English and Spanish.
