REPORT ON TRIP TO BOCAREINT.September 2004
Our visit to this mountain village of Bocareint went well. It was a lovely day - the weather was fine, our guides were fun O.K:? - and we were able to pay extended visits to the huge nevera which was reached by wandering, apparently blind folded into the depths of the earth! The sunshine was wonderful afterwards. The Church of Bocareint held a fantastic amount of treasures, hidden away from most eyes (but not ours) , and then we wandered down and inspected the ancient bull ring. This had been dug out of the solid rock by the locals in the 1800's. Apparently the local industry, blanket making, suffered a recession so a group of business men provided the money to pay the workers to build it - and so saved the town, and, eventually the blanket trade came back into its own as our members found out when they visited, and bought, at the Rasilan factory.
Altogether a very satisfactory day!
